Expertise

Myhosi (Josie) Ashton is a compassionate victim advocate with over 30 years of experience in the criminal justice field. She is dedicated to providing services in a safe environment, allowing her clients to address their trauma wounds and identify the severity of their pain. Josie's expertise lies in quantifying available resources and qualifying interventions to find the best solutions for her clients.

With a strong work ethic and principles, Josie goes beyond surface-level assessments, delving deep to uncover traces of pain and discomfort. Having personally experienced trauma, she understands that healing is a unique journey for each individual, requiring a tailored approach to meet their specific needs.

Throughout her career, Josie has collaborated with various organizations, including the Florida State Attorney's Office, Florida Attorney General's Office, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and County Sexual Assault and Children Advocacy Center Programs. She possesses a keen eye for crisis and trauma, thriving in helping clients regain emotional balance, process immediate pain, and develop plans for navigating different social systems after victimization.

In addition to her practical experience, Josie holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health. Her fluency in Spanish and emotional intelligence amplify her ability to not only listen attentively but also read the room, identifying vulnerable and emotional social interactions for herself and her clients.

Having attended numerous criminal trials, media interviews, death notifications, and crime scenes, Josie is skilled in crisis intervention and data collection. Her commanding presence and voice make her stand out during public speaking events, while her vulnerability and connection with the audience make her a favorite at conferences and among friends.

Outside of her professional life, Josie enjoys reading, cooking, paddleboarding, and spending quality time with her daughters. She often immerses herself in books and explores the significance of chocolate, both white and dark, through research and experimentation.
